Chilliwack, BC Day 1 Practice

I was able to drive up to BC this morning since practice did not start until 2:00. Getting through the border was easy and uneventful. I am staying at the Vedder River Inn. Turns out the entire British Rifle Team is staying here. All of the Americans stay at a place called the Rainbow Inn. I looked it up on line. It is an OLD place. The rooms are frilly and floraly and quite horrible. My hotel is pretty new and in a great location near restaurants and 2 miles closer to the range. Not much more in price either.

The General Vokes Military Range is stunning. As you are looking down range to the targets you have the biggest greenest mountains. To the right are snow peaked mountains. It was pretty warm, about 80 something degrees. With the jacket on you are a sweat box. Made me wish I was not going to Camp Perry in a couple of weeks. There it will be hotter plus really humid! For sighting in we were only able to shoot at one line for about 30 minutes. We shot at the 400 meter line. This match is at 300, 500 and 600 meters. I have no idea why they wanted us to sight in at 400???. Now I still need zeros tomorrow at the match! Oh well. There are more things I need to think about. Pair firing in 45 second increments. Should be interesting.
