My First USPSA Match – Video

Charles and his friend Brian brought me out to participate in a USPSA match at Paul Bunyan range yesterday. Brian is a great friend of Charles who competes regularly in this. Brian loaned me his match Para 1911, mags and holster. We brought the ammo. We have had cold and wet weather recently and yesterday was a flukey sunny and warm day. My being a fair weather shooter this helped make my first day a lot of fun.

There were 6 stations set up. 2 of them were the Virginia Counts and the rest Comstock scoring. Basically it is how many rounds allowed per target. I did really well at the Virginia count. I had a blast shooting the “run n gun” courses but was very slow compared to the rest of the people out there. I was the only “newbie” yesterday. I am attaching a video Charles took of me in one event. And Brian actually is the RSO in this who is following me. I was cruising along until my last magazine change. I had a round in chamber and the mag was maxed out. It would not stick as I tried to load it. I believe there was one too many rounds. I should have stopped and fired that round then stuck in mag or dropped it and grab another mag I knew was not so full. I did end up using another magazine but by then so much time had gone by. Regardless, I really enjoyed this.  This game makes you have to think of many things at once. I can only imagine what the 3 gun matches are like!
