Today I only dropped 3 points total! Much better than yesterday’s 9 total. All of my US shooters and I are pretty much even in total scores. Let’s see, we shot at 300 meters, my score was 49/50 and 5. At 500 it was 50/50 and 4. 600 first string was 49 and 7 and second string 49 and 5. Got caught with a wind change as I was settling in to shoot. It was much cooler today and slightly over cast. But there were a lot of light changes which makes things interesting.
At the last half of day we had the International Team event first stage at 300 meters. An 8 person team. (Photo at right) From left to right is Gary Rasmussen, Bob Gustus, me, Wayne Budbil, Alex ?, Mike D?, Ricky Hunt and another Bob Gamboa. Sorry for misspelling names! By this time the dark clouds came in and really made it difficult for coaches to read any mirage and us to see. We dropped 8 points total which was high. But I realized all teams struggled. So we are tied with the Brits I believe as of now and Canada is leading by 1 point! Sheesh. I felt terrible that I dropped a couple of points until I realized so did others on the team. I did not call the bad shots at all. I guess the darkness played tricks on me. And my first 2 sighters were V-bulls too! We converted those to score of course.
So tonight we have a fancy dinner at a local golf country club. Traditionally the Brits show up in matching jackets. But, everyone will be dressed nicely and fun to see. You only see your fellow shooters in outdoorsy clothes, hats, etc. Will be fun to have a few drinks and relax.
